Meet Some of the Kaart Team.


Kaart Advisors come from every profession, business and industry imaginable. Generally, all are mature business people with over 20 years senior management experience, either as Chief Executive, President, Division Head or Executive Director. Kaart advisors have experienced first hand the pressures, stresses and joys of running a business. Many have started up, run and eventually sold their own businesses; others have run some of the best-known businesses in the world. In short, Kaart advisors have been there, seen it, and survived to tell the story!

Dr. James Norris
Dr. James Norris, CEO. Jim has more than twenty years' experience as a chief executive, board member, trainer, and business advisor. His has led a successful start-up, guided another start-up during the transition from founder to more institutionalized leadership, and assumed leadership of an established organization that was rapidly losing market share. Jim has presented at numerous conferences and workshops. He served on the Little Hoover Commission’s Education Finance Advisory Committee and was appointed as an advisor to the California State Superintendent of Public Instruction. He was honored with a White House invitation for his efforts on the organization redesign of schools. Jim earned a Doctorate in Educational Leadership, as well as Master’s degrees in Industrial/Organizational Psychology and Public Administration & Policy. He is an Adjunct Professor of Business and Management at Benedictine University.


Bob Banasik, Kaart Advisor
Bob Banasik. Bob has been a life-long entrepreneur and has started, built up, and sold several businesses. With experience and successes in retail, strategic marketing, and business finance, Bob brings a global vision perspective to business opportunities and challenges with an unbiased perspective. Specific expertise includes Digital Imaging, IT and ASP solutions, HR, New Market Development, Strategic Planning, and Consumer Products. Bob believes that success in business means many things, but turning an entrepreneur's sense of urgency into sustainable profit streams, building assets, planned growth, and a comfortable exit strategy should always be the primary goals.


Randy Council, Kaart Advisor
Randy Council. Randy has over 25 years of first hand experience in executive human resources, retail operations and asset protection. He specializes in employee selection, development, management and retention. He is passionate about helping business owners with their people needs. Randy is certified as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and is a Certified Forensic Interviewer (CFI). Randy serves on his local Fire and Police Commission Board and volunteers his time within his community. He has a been a guest lecturer at universities, as well national business associations.


Jennifer Crews, Kaart Advisor
Jennifer Crews. Jennifer has more than 15 years of leadership experience bringing products to market and managing businesses in large corporations and small companies alike. Jennifer works with independent business owners to bring new products to market, maximize profitability through a performance management discipline, and increase employee effectiveness. Jennifer received her MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and her BA in Psychology from Lafayette College. She is active in her community, serving on advisory boards and mentoring youth.


Kim Dougherty, Kaart Advisor
Kim Dougherty. Kim advises executives in both the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors to enhance their success as leaders and improve the performance of their organizations. Her coaching enables clients to build on inherent strengths and acquired skills. This results in significantly higher levels of responsibility, along with greater levels of personal and professional satisfaction. Her background includes decades of corporate marketing and sales, as well as nonprofit leadership at the executive and board director levels. Kim’s clients include nonprofit boards, Fortune 100 executives, small business owners and entrepreneurs from a broad variety of industries. She holds a Masters in Business Administration from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. She is an accredited business advisor.


Dr. Carlos Helou, Kaart Advisor
Dr. Carlos Helou. Carlos has led business development, marketing, and research divisions for the world's largest industrial gas company. He also has served as an advisor to owners of privately held companies. His accomplishments include leading a manufacturing company from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection to profitability in 22 months. Carlos is Member of the Board of Directors of the National Alliance for Advanced Transportation Batteries – a collaboration of U.S.-based battery makers, suppliers and equipment manufacturers dedicated to manufacturing battery cells for U.S. transportation applications. Carlos holds a Doctorate in Analytical Chemistry and an M.S. degree in Nuclear Physics from the National Institute of Applied Sciences in Lyon, France. He earned an MBA from Roosevelt University/Walter Heller School of Business in Chicago, Illinois.


Dr. William Hendricks, Kaart Advisor
Dr. William Hendricks. For nearly 30 years Bill has managed performance and developed people, first with high performing athletes and in recent years as a business advisor. He has been a small business owner and helped lead a start-up company through exceptional growth and international acclaim. Over the past 10 years Bill has spent time designing and building business solutions for dozens of small business owners, as well as for companies like Microsoft, ExxonMobil, and Disney. Bill is a public speaker and author. His books include The Conflict Management Handbook, The Manager’s Role as Coach, and Effective Project Management.



Scott Jacobson, Kaart Advisor
Scott Jacobson. Scott brings the unique perspective and skill set that comes from having worked in a variety of companies and industries. Large company experience provides knowledge of a wide variety tools, methods and processes. Small company experience provides the ability to work quickly and efficiently with inadequate budgets and staff. Scott's insights and advice are practical, combining both theory and personal experience. His achievements include leading the successful development and introduction of new products/services, new technologies and new markets. Scott also turned around a business unit, doubling the revenue within three years, and guided strategic partnering activities for a mid-sized company. Scott earned his MBA and B.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of St. Thomas.


Steve MacGill, Kaart Advisor
Steve MacGill. Steve has over two decades of first-hand experience in building strong leadership teams, coaching senior executives and pioneering new approaches. He has successfully consulted with numerous leadership teams and helped them separate the important from the urgent, prioritize initiatives, and ensure their focus is balanced, practical and most importantly sustainable. His clients span multiple industries and represent work with leaders of both large and small businesses. Steve is a pioneer in the development of virtual peer advisory boards for business owners. His experience includes roles as a member of Ernst & Young’s leadership development faculty and as a Senior Member of Foster Higgins, AON and Inforte.


Corinne Maginnis, Kaart Advisor
Corinne Maginnis. Corinne has over 30 years of experience in consulting, advising, and leading organizations. Corinne has worked with service and manufacturing companies in a variety of industries, including consumer package goods, financial services, industrial plants, insurance, print production, information technology, city and government services, public utilities, pharmaceuticals, and telecommunications. Corinne has coached over 400 business owners and executive-level clients. She is an accredited business advisor and has certifications in multiple assessment methodologies and coaching programs.



Tom Overmyer, Kaart Advisor
Tom Overmyer. Tom brings a background of providing advisory services to small business owners, as well as over twenty years of experience in operations. He has proven skills in maximizing strategic business processes, reducing costs and boosting operational effectiveness for service and manufacturing companies. He has broad-based management experience, with a proven track record of improving results through process improvements, technology acquisitions and risk management. Tom earned his MBA from Ball State University and a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University. He is a Fellow of the Life Management Institute and is an accredited business advisor.


William Papp, Kaart Advisor
William Papp. has more than thirty-five years' experience in process improvement, planning, consulting and management, and has helped companies ranging from start-ups to $billion+ corporations. His responsibilities have included Operations, Engineering, Human Resources, Logistics, Strategic Planning, and Quality. Bil has focused on helping companies improve by expanding capability, improving quality and service, focusing their efforts, and controlling costs. He believes strongly in giving back to the community and is actively involved in his local Chamber of Commerce, having chaired key groups. He has been a volunteer counselor with SCORE for many years, and has long been actively involved at his church. Bil has an MBA from Pepperdine University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Bradley University.


Michael Seeds, Kaart Advisor
Micheal Seeds. Michael's career has been focused on developing experience and skills in every area of business. He has held positions in general management, sales, sales management, purchasing, purchasing management, financial and administrative management, manufacturing, distribution, merchandising and advertising. His experience also ranges from the large business setting where he managed the purchasing, merchandising and advertising functions of a $290,000,000 firm to coaching small business owners to greater profitability and sustainability. and Building Materials Company with 8 locations. Michael holds an MBA, as well as degrees in Forest Products and Financial Accounting. He is an Adjunct Professor of Business at the University of Phoenix, teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses.


David Smulyan, Kaart Advisor
David Smulyan. David is an accomplished business executive with a proven track record of enhancing profitability of existing operations and identifying growth opportunities. He has over twenty years of experience in marketing, business development, operational improvement and strategic planning. David has held leadership positions at several New York Stock Exchange companies and now provides his expertise to organizations as an external advisor. He has worked on a variety of strategic and operational projects for Fortune 50 companies and served as a trusted advisor to smaller publicly held and privately owned organizations. David is a board member of several nonprofits, a Commissioner on his local Planning Commission, and a baseball coach in the local Little League. David holds an MBA from Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management and a BA in Economics and History from Washington University in St. Louis.


Jim Thornton, Kaart Advisor
Jim Thornton. Drawing on his thirty years of experience in private and corporate business, Jim provides advisory, coaching, consultancy, and mentoring services to both business and personal clients. He is highly regarded as a management advisor and consultant for his broad range of experience and knowledge, as well as his ability to communicate effectively with his clients. Jim's professional expertise has been obtained through years of experience in the business, engineering, and quality assurance fields. Jim earned his MBA from the University of Phoenix and his Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering from San Diego State University. He is an accredited business advisor and has several certifications including Six Sigma Black Belt by the American Society for Quality, ISO 9001 Lead Auditor by the RAB, Master NLP Practitioner, and Hypnotist by the National Guild of Hypnotism.
