CURRENT OPENINGS

Kaart is looking for multiple GIS Technicians with varied experience editing spatial data in OpenStreetMap. The ideal candidate is analytical, pays attention to detail, is able to think critically, as well as work efficiently. The successful candidate will be able to work closely with others through cross-team collaboration.

Kaart will provide all on the job training to the successful candidates.

Preferred Key Qualifications:

Enthusiastic about learning. Attention to detail, accuracy, and quality of data output. Works well with computers. Responds well to constructive criticism. Can collaborate with others on projects. Able to work independently. Can use prior experience in critical and decision making. Cooperative in a team setting and contributes to group discussions. Experience in OpenStreetMap and GIS software such as ArcGIS is preferred.

Travel experience preferred but not required. Fluency in multiple languages preferred but not required.

2+ years experience of relevant industry experience preferred. Education BA/BS in Geography or relevant field. Ability to think critically and exercise good judgement. Proven leadership ability. Experience with GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, OpenStreetMap, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, iD Editor, and JOSM. Capable of making decisions based on analysis and experience. Strong competence in data analysis. Able to work both in a team or independently when required. Self-driven attention to detail, data accuracy and quality of output. Familiarity with remote sensing and analyzing aerial imagery. Develop and manage projects through cross-team coordination, to deliver the best results possible. Required Qualifications:

Extensive experience using modern C++ development and their best practices

Experience in the mapping / GIS space preferable

Hands-on experience contributing to open source projects

Kaart is hiring for a Colorado Professional Licensed Land Surveyor! As part of Kaart Surveying, LLC you will be leading surveying projects and performing professional land-surveying duties. This position has the responsibility for reviewing, approving, and/or preparing subdivision plans, boundary and right-of-way surveys, survey control and monuments, legal descriptions and land title matters, and representing the company in boundary disputes.

Specific Responsibilities:

Directs and administers the review, approval, and/or preparation of land descriptions, exhibits, and right-of-way dedications.

Directly responsible for the examination and/or preparation of survey plats and maps to ensure proper content, form, and compliance with Colorado revised statutes and board rules.

Directs and administers the establishment and maintenance of survey control monuments and documents.

Facilitates field inspections of survey projects.

Directs and administers the processing and/or preparation of deed and easement documents.

Develops and/or participates in the development of staff work plans, measures and tracks progress towards goals, prepares and conducts timely and constructive performance appraisals.

Coaches, counsels, and supports staff to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.

Consistently educates and advises staff on organizational rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Supports creative thinking and problem solving and encourages participatory decision-making when appropriate.

Demonstrates a respectful attitude towards customers and coworkers that promotes teamwork, open communication, and effective customer service.

Exercises appropriate level of initiative and judgment to make decisions within the scope of assigned authority.

Key Skills:

Strong knowledge of principles and practices of land surveying and determining precise location and measurements.

Strong knowledge of laws and regulations governing boundary surveying.

Solid proficiency with contemporary survey equipment, tools, and software used for surveying and performing analytical analysis of data.

Strong knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations.

Strong knowledge of mathematics as it is applied to field surveying and related engineering computations.

Proficiency in construction staking, planning, reports, maps, plats, deeds, local geography, physical evidence, legal descriptions, and research.

Strong attention to detail.

Ability to interpret engineering design plans to provide layout and stationing for engineering projects for accuracy and timely project completion.

Ability to effectively communicate information, both verbally and in writing.

Proven ability to complete all technical aspects of a field surveying task.

Reputation as a trusted and respected member of the surveying community.

Good social and communication skills.

Physical Requirements: 

Sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl are required for field inspections.

The ability to manipulate and manage tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.

The ability to walk on uneven terrain and hike long distances each day.

The ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 75 pounds.

The ability to visually assess your surroundings, make visual readings on your tools and equipment.

Requirements:

Associate or bachelor’s degree in Land Surveying or equivalent survey field experience.

A Colorado Professional Land Surveyors license, as stated in Section 12-25-214 of the Colorado Revised Statutes.

A minimum of three (3) years experience as a professional land surveyor.

Three (3) years of increasingly responsible supervisory experience that may include supervising professional land surveyors, survey party chiefs, and survey technicians is required.

Experience researching properties and chain of title.

A valid Colorado driver’s license and be able to operate motorized vehicles.
