Imagery Collection

Kaart is collecting street level imagery by vehicle in various locations throughout the world. Imagery may be collected using cameras mounted both inside and outside of vehicles, as well as using tablet devices to edit data with realtime observations. Collection is ongoing throughout the calendar year and may be dependent on weather, political stability and other factors.

Kaart makes every effort to protect the privacy of individuals during imagery collection. Imagery is stored privately and is used internally for editing of geographic data. When imagery is made public, in order to enhance OpenStreetMap for example, the privacy and copyright is transferred to the displaying platform such as Mapillary. Imagery is only uploaded to platforms with robust privacy standards such as image blurring to obscure faces and license plates. Questions regarding this process, or a request for blurring, may be done by contacting Kaart.
